Overview

My city is Detroit. We're blue collar and we're tough.

Adam Genei

b.1975

Livingston County, MI

Bachelor Degree

Ferris State University

PH.D

Cleary University

Born in Detroit and raised in its suburbs, Adam developed a love for the auto industry at an early age, and was fortunate enough to have one side of the family on the dealership (retail’s) side, and the other as manufacturing supply chain in the automotive industry. He was exposed to two different worlds of the automotive industry, seeing the finished product, and seeing the consumer’s excitement and the culture around it. His time spent growing up in his fathers shop and being a part of the automotive supply chain, seeing what the American worker does and seeing how complex the pieces of the puzzle are was a big impact. Ultimately it led him to understand the importance of manufacturing and the importance of the American worker. He grew an appreciation for hard work and expanded his skills in his parent’s shop supplying the Big Three. With that relationship established, he started making parts for the Big Three, turning that hobby into a business.

Mobsteel started as a one bay garage with a welding bench and a mission to celebrate the automotive industry. The name has grown into a worldwide brand, with that same mission giving life to the Detroit Steel Wheel Company. Embodying the ideals of Mobsteel, Detroit Steel Wheel Co. has become the resurgence solution for manufacturing in the US. The Mobsteel brand has continued to strengthen its relationship with the Big Three and celebrate the success of businesses whose efforts lie within this country.

Adams formula for success is simple: hard work. He has brought back the old school mentality of “do it yourself” to make a better quality product. His journey has taken him and his team from fabricating metal, architecture, furniture, and vehicles, to manufacturing after-market components such as suspension, wheels, and injection molding. All of these self-taught skills have shaped the identity of Mobsteel as a “make it happen” company.

“The minute you decide you want to create something, you need to roll up your sleeves and do it.”

Adam puts every profit into the Mobsteel mission, and takes risks because he knows those measurable's are going nowhere but up. His TedTalk, being on the main-stage and doing business with Ford, Axalta, Autodie, SATA, and ACDelco has validated what he’s created.

There were many times when Mobsteel could have given up, but Adam knew they were moving in the right direction, despite what was happening fiscally. The tough times built Mobsteel, making it an identifiable dream of hard work and success in this economy.

“The fact that you can wake up in the morning and be anyone you want to be is an unbelievable feeling.”
